Dear Sue, I remember that having decided to live opposite the reservoirs and Climbing Centre in N4 just north of Clissold Park, you were very upset that a huge housing development was planned for the reservoirs area. You were worried that the plants and wildlife would be threatened there, and we talked about the fact that there were some quite rare plants growing on the banks. You even made time to go to meet some of the MPs who were opposing the plan to build over some of the wild area. In the end, a lot of flats were built, but management of the reservoirs were taken over by London Wildlife Trust, so the birds that use the reservoirs as a staging post out to Walthamstow and the Lea Valley are still monitored by them, and the wildlife is appreciated by the public who can walk round the area. And the horsetails, swans, pheasant and grebes flourish there side by side with local people and visitors.
